Reactions to a proposal to set up
The Gary Lutnick Memorial Scholarship Fund

Dr Phan: Given the fact that I preceded Gary by some five years, I had no idea he was a Rider NMUN alum. Frankly, I heard his brother on television speaking about the loss of Gary, but I had no idea of the connection to Rider. Once again, your theory holds true. A change is ones "perception" is much greater than the reality, itself. Unfortunately, in this case, we have lost one of our own. The tragedy now becomes that much more personal for all of us.

I'm very much in favor of using Gary's  passing as an opportunity to support the NMUN cause. I'm in favor of creating an endowment for Rider's NMUN efforts -- in his memory. As Gary himself reflected, his Rider NMUN experience provided him with a  "better understanding of how friends interplay in the politics of world affairs."

Let's celebrate Gary's life by supporting a cause that, in its own special way, attempts to foster a better understanding of the world and its politics. What better tribute to a guy who studied about uniting nations, worked in the "World" Trade Center, dealt with international commerce, and was a part of redefining -- what will surely become -- a new world order.

In Gary Lutnick's honor ... Dr. Phan, count me in.
