I am a senior majoring in
Political Science. I was born and raised in the Dominican Republic and
came to America six and half years ago. I transferred to Rider University
my sophomore year after being at Stockton College for one year.
I have become a student
leader at Rider University. I have been a member of Rider's Women Tennis
Team, Lambda Theta Alpha Latin Sorority, Inc. organization in which I hold
the positions of Vice-President, Social Chairperson and Finance Chairperson.
For two consecutive academic terms I held the position of Vice-President
of the Latin American Student Organization (LASO) and also held various
community
services with the purpose of helping immigrants and minorities in general.
My beloved country was one
the main catalyst in my interest on global politics. I come from a country
where opportunities are not many and where poverty is extremely high. Living
in a developing country helped expand my interest to learn about the different
situations and lifestyles of other countries and learn how those situations
affect me and where I come from. I enjoy global politics very much and
that is where my
interest in Model UN comes from. In the future I would like to become
a lawyer in the international field and I think that Model UN is a very
useful tool for my career. I am looking forward to a great year in Model
UN and to learn information that will be useful to me as a lawyer and as
a member of the community. |
