I’m a Sophmore and hope to double major both in Political Science and Theatre. The main areas of politics that interest me are international relations and legislation in the American system of government. I expect to attend graduate school in a few years and eventually teach political science at a collegiate level.
I was born on December 28, 1981 in Trenton, NJ. My parents then moved out of the US to Venezuela a year later, which is where I spent most of my childhood. I’ve moved around a great deal during my life, and although it was difficult at times, it gave me the opportunity to explore two different cultures and learn a great deal about where I come from.
The Model United Nations Team appeals to me for many reasons. Meeting people is one of my greatest hobbies, especially meeting people of a different origin and from different cultures. I believe that as our world becomes smaller and communication improves between the peoples that inhabit it, individuals will slowly begin to understand that they are not only citizens of their own nation, but that they hold a common allegiance to each other as citizens of the World. Organizations like the MUN have the opportunity to educate young people on this new frame of reference and are invaluable to speeding up the process of global citizenship.
I can only hope that MUN has as incredible an effect on me as it has had on the member that came before the 2001 team. This experience would give me a great deal of knowledge and experience, as well as lasting friendships and the ability to proudly represent my University and my heritage as one of Rider’s delegates to MUN.
